The Savoy Hotel
An English icon
120 years after it first took London’s breath away with its luxury and sheer style, The Savoy reopened fresh from the most ambitious restoration in British history. For the past five years we’ve been working to engage their discerning guests through a series of initiatives that amplify the world-famous luxury hotel’s historical and cultural significance.
An American Concoction
The term ‘American Bar’ refers to a bar serving mixed or ‘American-style’ drinks, more commonly known as cocktails. The American Bar at The Savoy is the longest surviving of these bars and one of the world’s most iconic cocktail bars in the world. Our challenge was to reward their most loyal and celebrated guests while telling stories of legendary bartenders and their drinks that illustrate the history of the 20th Century.
The bar itself stands on the hotel’s former cabaret stage and provides a theatrical, art deco setting in which to enjoy cocktails. We were asked to develop an immersive taste experience that would engage guests with character-inspired cocktails.
We designed and manufactured a pair of drinks trolleys adorned with gold leaf, using these to tell stories linking the Savoy’s historic past to specific cocktails. Each concoction was served in vintage glassware and embellished to the guests’ specific taste preferences while paying tribute to four of The Savoy’s most famous personalities.
